On Saturday, we boarded Holland America’s ms Zuiderdam.  The night before, we stayed at the Fairmont Waterfront Hotel, which is conveniently located directly across the street from Canada Place pier.  If you get up early, you can look out your hotel room window to watch your ship sail in…and that’s exactly what we did.

When it was time to board, we simply called the front desk, and they sent the bellhops up to fetch our luggage.  Since they proceeded to deliver the it to the ship for us, that’s the last we saw of our luggage until it arrived at our stateroom.  We simply walked across the street, checked in, and boarded the ship!  Easy as that.

So far, the ship is fantastic, and we’ve enjoyed a whole day at sea sailing up the Inside Passage of Canada & Alaska.  89 is the number of people in our group, and they all seem to be having a great time.

The ladies in the group appreciate the onboard jewelry store.

This afternoon we sailed alongside a pod of whales–both humpbacks and orcas.  There were probably 20 of them, with the orcas breeching and the humpbacks showing their tails.

Tomorrow morning we will sail into Tracy Arm Fjord and hopefully enjoy some fantastic scenery along steep cliffs and waterfalls.
